The Technology Goes Home program provides 15 hours of computer and technology training to both parents and students. This year, the Otis provided both a fall and a spring session enabling 24 families to participate. Each session is taught by 2 instructors, Ms. Reyes and Mrs. DosSantos, along with a class assistant, Ms. Byrne. Parents and students are taught valuable computer and Internet skills to enable them to use the Internet for both personal and professional growth. At the end of their training, parents were given the opportunity to purchase a new Netbook at a substantial discount of $50. In addition, parents who qualified were provided with the information to become a Comcast subscriber and receive Internet access for $11.95 per month. Beyond instructional time, this class also offered parents the opportunity for some one-on-one time with their children as well as skills to become better acquainted with their school and community.
